THE HEALTH CHECK
A straightforward assessment on how you plan and execute today.
Every question is a yes or a no, about what actually happens where you work. Could most people tell you what your purpose is, if you asked? Do this quarter’s goals connect to the annual ones? Does everyone have a clearly defined set of responsibilities?
And it adapts to your context. Answer the first question — team or organisation — and the rest of the questions change to match. You’ll get one overall score, a plain-English read of what it means and specific recommendations for what to think about next.
From years of this work.
The questions come from working with real teams on their planning and diagnosing what was going wrong.
Matched to your role.
Say whether you lead a team or an organisation and the questions change to fit.
Five minutes, no prep.
Yes or no, one question at a time. Nothing to download, read or dig out first.

What it Checks
Five areas where planning usually breaks.
Sometimes plans fail because the strategy was wrong. More often they fail because one of these five areas was never nailed down. The Planning Health Check works you through each one.
1. Purpose
Your core purpose or mission. Whether you have one, whether it captures why you do what you do, and whether most people could tell you what it is if you asked.
2. Direction
Lead an organisation and this is your vision — how far out it looks, and whether it’s a real step change. Lead a team and it’s your annual goals, and whether they connect upward.
Differs by Path3. Culture
Your values. Whether they say something distinct rather than the usual honesty and integrity, whether they’ve been broken down into everyday behaviours, and whether an outsider could spot them in how people actually behave.
4. Alignment
Annual and quarterly goals, whether they’ve been cascaded down to team and individual level, and whether you review progress against them often enough for anything to change.
5. Roles
Whether each person has a clearly defined role — and whether there are gaps and overlaps between them.
What you get back
A score out of 100 and what to do about it.
Answer the last question and your results appear straight away. One instant overall score for your planning – not a report to wait for.
First
Your score
A single percentage covering all five areas. It tells you how much of the groundwork is actually in place.
Then
What it means
A plain-English read of where that score puts you, written for your context.
And
What to focus on next
Specific recommendations, matched to your role and what you said you’re looking for right now.
